The Mission Statement was adopted by the Board of Trustees in June 1999. The mission of the Everhart Museum is to foster knowledge, exploration, and appreciation of natural history, science, and art with emphasis on northeast Pennsylvania’s unique heritage. The museum endeavors to

1. Use its resources to enlighten, educate, engage, and delight the public through exhibits and educational/cultural programs, developed in cooperation with our communities and local, regional, and national institutions;



2. Maintain and strengthen collections of minerals, flora, and fauna, as well as cultural and artistic creations from the Pennsylvania region, while sustaining limited, superior collections from other regions and cultures;



3. Encourage philosophical evaluation of the world around us through scientific and artistic explorations;



4. Provide a stimulating, inviting environment for first-time and experienced museum visitors of all ages.
